Castles & Country Houses, Event, Film & Wedding Hire, Gardens & Parks, Private Collections
The Castle of Mey has been a much beloved retreat of the Queen Mother  (1900-2002). It was built between 1566 and 1572 by George Sinclair, 4th Earl of Caithness. The Queen Mother acquired it in 1952, shortly after the death of her husband King George VI.

The Castle of Mey is in the hands of the The Castle of Mey Trust since 1996, whereas the current Trustee is The Prince's Foundation.

The grounds are protected by the Great Wall of Mey (12 feet high).

The house and grounds, including the Animal Centre, are open to the public.

The Castle of Mey is also a venue for corporate and private events, such as weddings…
