Catacombs of San Gennaro

The Catacombs of San Gennaro consist of underground paleo-Christian burial and worship sites, taking the visitor to world of tombs, corridors and broad vestibules. It became a Christian pilgrimage site when in the 5th century San Gennaro's body was buried here.

There are 2nd-century Christian frescoes, 5th-century mosaics and the oldest known portrait of San Gennaro.
