Doddington Place has been the home of the Oldfield family for a century. It was built around 1860 for Sir John Croft of the port and sherry family. The architect was Charles Brown Trollope. The Terrace next to the house was designed by Markham Nesfield.
The remainder of the garden was laid out just before the 1st World and in course of the 20th century by the Oldfield family.
The garden is famous for its enormous hedges and includes also Woodland Garden, Pond and Folly Walk, the Sunken Garden and the Rock Garden.
