The Contretype, founded in 1978 by Jean-Louis Godefroid (1952-2013), is a space to exhibit photographic work by individual photographers from Brussels, Wallonia and abroad, including complementary activities in printing, publishing and distribution.
It has an artist-in-residence programme for Belgian and foreign photographers.
Since 2014, Contretype is housed in a new prestigious building: the Cité Fontainas.
