With more than 13,000 works it houses one of the largest collections of paintings, sculptures, and works on paper of modern and contemporary art in Europe. 

It was created by Aimé and Marguerite Maeght, a visionary couple of publishers and art dealers, who were friends with some of the most important artists of the 20th century (Chagall, Giacometti, Braque, Miró...)
