Founded by Elvira González, director of Galería Theo for 30 years, Galería Elvira González is focused in 20th and 21st century art.

It has a  particular interest in European and American art of the latter half of the 20th century and the work of contemporary artists. Galería Elvira González opened in February 1994.

Galería Elvira González has held important exhibitions such as Rothko in 1995, Picasso and Women in 1996, 7,000 years of Modern Sculpture. A Permanent Aesthetic in 1997, Calder / Tanguy in 1999, Minimal Art in 2003, Donald Judd, Progressions 1960-1970 in 2009, Alexander Calder in 2011, A. Tàpies, The 60s and 70s and Michelangelo Pistoletto in 2012.

Artists as Miquel Barceló, Waltercio Caldas, Olafur Eliasson, Robert Irwin, Chema Madoz, and Robert Mapplethorpe have recently joined the Gallery.

The Gallery works with major museums and cultural institutions and provides guidance to private and public collections. Together with the exhibition program, the gallery holds an extensive collection of works by artists of the 20th century.
