Galerie Hopkins

Antiques & Art Galleries
Galerie Hopkins is recognized for its expertise in the works of Impressionist painters and of Nabi artists.

Created in 1984, Galerie Hopkins presents high quality works by Modern Masters while promoting new artistic talents. The road traveled between its very first exhibition of watercolours by Paul Signac and its 2011 show of works by contemporary British artist Ian Davenport demonstrates that it does both.

On display are works by great Impressionists (Morisot, Monet, Pissarro, Sisley), Nabis (Bonnard, Maurice Denis, Vuillard), Post-Impressionists (Chagall, Rouault, Utrillo) as well as modern and contemporary artists (Picasso, Léger, Matisse, Calder, Tanguy, Brauner, Magritte, Dubuffet, Soulages, Warhol, Hockney and Basquiat).

Prominent on the international art market, the gallery has exhibited at the most important art fairs, including the Biennale des Antiquaires (Paris), The International Fine Art Fair (New York), TEFAF-Maastricht, Art Basel (Basel and Miami Beach). At the Pavillon des Arts et du Design (PAD Paris) each year since 1998 the gallery has put on solo shows : Henry Moore, Alexander Calder, Jean Dubuffet, Marc Quinn, Sam Safran, Balthasar Lobo, Josef Albers/Ian Davenport and Robert Motherwell.

Galerie Hopkins often lends works to major exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Musée d'Orsay or the Foundation Pierre Gained (Martigny,Switzerland) for example.

Some of the finest institutions (e.g., the Musée d'Orsay, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Cleveland Museum, the Getty Museum) have purchased works from Hopkins for their collection.

Galerie Hopkins' exhibition history illustrates a deliberate play on contrasts and includes a Berthe Morisot retrospective in 1987 (the gallery sponsored a new edition of the Morisot catalogue raisin of paintings in 1997) as well as shows of drawings, paintings and sculpture by Fernando Botero in 2001, 2004 and 2016.

Waring Hopkins is a member of the Syndicat national des antiquaires and of the Comité professional des galeries d'art.
