Glyptotheque

Museums & Art Centres
The Glyptotheque, founded in 1937 and an integral part of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, is a museum of sculpture that gives insight into sculptural creativity from ancient times up to the present day.

At the beginning, the main objective was to present plaster casts of immovable Croatian cultural heritage monuments, however since 1950, the museum has been acquiring numerous works of Croatian sculpture of the 19th and 20th century.

In 1982 the Gliptoteque established 'The Triennial', a competitive exhibition for Croatian sculptors residing in the country or abroad. The winner of the Great prize presents an independent exhibition on the next Triennial.
