Merian Gärten
Gardens & Parks
The Merian Gardens date back to the 1850s and was created by the wealthy agriculturist Christoph Merian. In the 1886 it came into the hands of the Christoph Merian Foundation.
In 1967, the villa and the associated Merian Parks were handed over to the City of Basel (for a period of 100 years free of charge) to create a botanical garden.
