Monuments & Sites, Museums & Art Centres
The Museum Catharijneconvent is a museum of religious art and located in the former St. Catharine convent. The large collection is spanning from the early Middle Ages to the present, including many artifacts from the museum of religious art of the Catholic Archbishopric of Utrecht, located in the convent until 1979.
The courtyard of the St Catherine’s Convent Museum forms part of the medieval convent complex, and was the former monastery garden of the Johanniter Order. The convent included a hospital wing with 24 beds, whereas the courtyard garden served for growing herbs for the hospital and for use in the kitchen.
