Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
Museum & Park Vincenzo Vela is devoted to the works of the Ticino sculptor, Vincenzo Vela (1820-1891) and belongs to one of the most important artist's houses of the European 1800s. It is surrounded by a panoramic park.
The villa was built for the artist as his residence, studio and private museum for his collection of plaster casts. It was transformed into a public museum after being donated to the Swiss Confederation in 1892.
The park includes important features such as the formal Italian garden with its geometric layout, and the romantic English landscape containing a pond, citrus trees and ornamental plants.
