Villa & Collection Panza

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Villa Panza is an 18th century villa, expanded and embellished between 1829-183, containing a large collection of contemporary art. The villa is surrounded by a 3.3 ha 18th century park, with 19th- and 20th century changes and additions.

The Villa was built for the Marquis Paolo Antonio Menafoglio, but came in the hands of Count Pompeo Litta Visconti Arese in 1823, who expanded the villa.

In 1956 the new owners, Giuseppe and Rosa Giovanna Panza di Biumo started a contemporary art collection, which developed into a collection of over 100 works from may different artists, such as Dan Flavin, James Turrell, Robert Irwin...

In 1996 the villa came part of the Fundo Ambiente Italiano (the Italian National Trust), whereas the Count and Countess Panza simply kept the second floor as their home.

The villa holds also temporary exhibitions
