Wenckheim Castle

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Wenckheim Castle was built between 1875 and 1879 for Count Frigyes Wenckheim and his wife, Countess Krisztina Wenckheim. The architect was Miklós Ybl. The park was also created at the same period. The Wenckheim family owned the castle until 1944. Today the castle is undergoing substantial renovations by the Heritage Protection Development Nonprofit Ltd, however the 23 ha park can be visited freely.

Wenckheim Castle was one of the most modern castle of its time including its dazzling interior furnishings. In front of the stately home there is a Baroque garden created from sculpted boxwoods and yews with a fountain, Sigismund spring, in its centre.
