Galerie Chevalier
The Galerie Chevalier specialises in antique, modern and contemporary tapestries, archaeological textiles and fibre art.
FOUR GENERATIONS OF EXPERTS
An ineluctable point of passage for the aficionados of textiles, the Galerie Chevalier has an international clientele of private individuals, museum curators and interior designers. The Gallery participated in the Paris Biennale Internationale des Antiquaires, the Brussels Art Fair (BRAFA), New York’s International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show and the TEFAF in Maastricht.
The Galerie Chevalier was founded by Dominique Chevalier and his wife Nicole de Pazzis Chevalier. The gallery is an extension of the family’s tapestry and carpet restoration business started in 1917. Like all antiques dealers, the Gallery’s raison d’être is finding quality pieces for their clients.
Céline Letessier and Amélie-Margot Chevalier, the current administrator and artistic director, respectively, pursue the work started by their parents: Dominique Chevalier, a certified tapestries and carpets expert since 1977, and by Nicole de Pazzis-Chevalier, a certified expert in tapestries. Céline and Amélie are committed to the promotion of textile arts, past and present. They encourage and promote tapestry in France and throughout the world by organising and participating in a large number of exhibitions.
To showcase the array of pieces the Galerie Chevalier has to offer, Céline and Amélie-Margot invite designers-artists to exhibit their work in an atmosphere of continuous and enriching dialogue between the artists’ worlds and the pieces in the Gallery. The decorative arts are celebrated have pride of place at the Galerie Chevalier!
