Gustavianum - Uppsala University Museum

Gustavianum, inaugurated in 1997, is the university museum of Uppsala University, containing the university collections. It is housed in the former main building of the university, built between 1622 and 1625. The Gustavianum is presently closed for renovations, until 2023.
The art collections, comprising approximately 7000 objects, includes works of art in different techniques, ranging in age from the Middle Ages right up to today, such as paintings, sculpture, engravings, drawings, woven tapestries, carpets, furniture and other objets d’art.
The centrepiece in the renovated Gustavianum will be the Augsburg Art Cabinet, made in Augsburg (Germany) as a gift from the city to Gustavus Adolphus, King of Sweden, in 1632.
