The present Jewish Museum Berlin was opened in 2001 is is one of the most important and largest Jewish museums in Europe. It consists of two buildings, the old Baroque palace and the new addition, designed by the architect Daniel Libeskind.

His design is based on a burst Star of David.

The garden is a protected monument and dates from the 1980s.
