La Musée de la Maison Fournaise
Museums & Art Centres
La Musée de la Maison Fournaise, opened in 1992, presents exhibitions around contemporary artistic movements of the Impressionist era. It also keeps a collection on the history of the house and the golden age of the banks of the Seine.
The site finds its origin in 1857, when Alphonse Fournaise bought the spot in order to use it as a restaurant and hotel including boat rental, following the new tourist trade. Renoir was a frequent guest and painted several scenes here.
