Lugdunum – Museum and Roman Theaters, are located on the slopes of Fourvière Hill, on the very site where the Roman city of Lugdunum was founded in 43 B.C. The museum, opened in 1975, and is designed to fit smoothly into the exceptional archaeological setting.
The museum, designed by architect Bernard Zehrfuss, displays its permanent collections of Roman, Celtic and pre-Roman items and hosts also regularly temporary exhibitions.
The unique archaeological site contains of two major monuments of the city of Lugdunum: a theatre and an odeon.
