Museums & Art Centres
The Roman Docks Museum (Musée des Docks Romains), opened in 1963, is located on the site of a former Roman docks warehouse, which was discovered in 1947, during the reconstruction of the old harbour. One of its main highlights are the "dolia", which are large ceramic containers, used to store oils and wines.
The Windows in the walls are telling the history of maritime trade through the objects from underwater excavations of 20 shipwrecks, which were found in the old harbour of Marseille.
