Schönbrunn Desert House is a hothouse based on designs by the architect Alfons Custodis for the overwintering of Emperor Franz Joseph's extensive and extremely valuable ‘New Holland Collection’.
This collection mainly contained botanical specimens from Australia and South Africa.
