South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, founded in 1998, is dedicated to archaeology of southern Alpine region from the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic (15,000 BC) up to 800 AD It houses the preserved body of Ötzi the Iceman.
The Iceman is a mummy from 3300 BC. (held in a carefully climatized chamber).
