The St Bartholomew's Hospital was founded in 1123 by the monk Rahere and granted by Henry VIII to the City of London in 1546. St Bartholomew’s Hospital Museum and Archives incorporates the most distinguished hospital archives in Britain, an art collection with works of masters such as Hogarth, Millais and Reynolds, as well as a museum displaying many of the treasures of the hospital.
