The Musée Jean-Jacques Rousseau consists of the house of the famous philosopher, Mont-Louis, where he lived from 1757 until 1762, and the house of the Gossips. In this place, where he took refuge to flee Paris, Rousseau composed some of his greatest works such as Du Contrat Social or Julie or La Nouvelle Héloïse.
The museum also houses, in a 19th century extension, temporary thematic exhibitions on the life and work of Rousseau or on history in the 18th century.
