Although the family has been at Crosswater since 1947, it was the botanist and author J. G. Millais who published in 1917 and 1924 two important works about the subject.

Ted and Romy have been many times in the Himalayas, bringing back rare plants or bred new hybrids.

Today their son David is running the Crosswater Farm Garden.
