Alte Pinakothek is one of the oldest galleries in the world (built in 1826) and houses a significant collection of Old Master paintings of the Wittelsbach collection, covering the period from the 14th to the 18th century.
The building was commissioned by King Ludwig I of Bavaria, whereas the architect was Leo von Klenze.
