Aranjuez Palace

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Aranjuez Palace dates from the 14th century but rebuilding started in the second half of the 16th century, by Phillip II. It is surrounded by extensive Baroque gardens, with fountains and statues.

It became one of the four government seats for the monarchs. The original design by Juan Bautista de Toledo was only finished in 1752, whereas 20 years later two wings were added by King Charles III.

The palace and gardens, managed by the Patrimonio Nacional, are open to the public.
