Royal El Escorial Monastery Palace

The El Escorial Abbey Palace is the immense complex, built by Philip II, in honour of his father Charles V. It is a Royal Palace, a monastery, a mausoleum, with stunning treasures and gardens.

Philip II was heavily involved in the design of the complex, for which he had engaged the Spanish architect Juan Bautista de Toledo. 

El Escorial was financed with the inexhaustible supply of gold from the Americas.

Amongst the enormous amount of treasures we just mention here "The Garden of Earthly Delights" from Jeroen Bosch, which he had confiscated from his enemy William of Orange...
