Bunratty Castle's estate is a major tourist attraction including the castle, "Bunratty House" and "Bunratty Folk Park", an open-air museum featuring around 30 buildings. The castle is famous for its medieval banquets.
The grounds were first mentioned already in 997. It was the 7th Viscount Gort who acquired the caste in 1956, restored it and opened it up to the public with furniture, tapestries and works of art dating to around 1600.
