Château des Rohan, Musées du Château des Rohan has a long noble history and since 1858 the castle houses a city museum with a history, decorative arts and a large archaeological department.
It was completed in the 20th century by an additional collection of art and ethnographic from the politician Louise Weiss.
The castle dates back to the 15th century but its present construction was erected between 1780 and 1790 by the architect Nicolas Salins de Montfort, commissioned by the Prince-Bishop Louis René Edouard de Rohan-Guéméné. He also resided at the magnificent Rohan Palace in Saverne and at the Rohan Castle of Mutzig.
