Castles & Country Houses, Museums & Art Centres
Enniskillen Castle, built in the 16th century, houses today two museums, Fermanagh County Museum and the Inniskillings Museum.
The Fermanagh County Museum tells the story of the castle from its Gaelic origins to its later use as a Plantation castle and military barracks, as well as the prehistory and natural history of Fermanagh.
The Inniskillings Museum, housed in the Castle Keep as well as the old cavalry stables, focuses on the history of Enniskillen’s two regiments, The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers and the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards, from their formation in 1689 up to modern times.
