Festetics Palace, Dég

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
The Festetics mansion in Dég was built in Classicist style between 1810 and 1815 for Count Antal Festetics de Tolna (1764-1853), imperial and royal chamberlain. The architect was the famous Mihaly Pollack. The mansion has a large English landscape garden (the same size as the Central Park), with on the island of the lake the so called 'Dutch House'.

The red-brick house in Dutch style, served as originally as a model dairy farm and was constructed in 1891.

The mansion is being renovated now but its picturesque English garden, the Serpentine lake system, the pond around the burial mound, as well as the pedestrian bridges spanning the lakes can be visited.
