Greenwich Park
Gardens & Parks
Greenwich Park, covering 74 ha (183 acres), is one of the eight Royal Parks. It stands on 'Prime Meridian', the world's time reference point (Royal Observatory). The site became Crown property in 1427, and was originally owned by the Belgium Abbey of St. Peter in Ghent.
Further back in history, the park dates back to Roman times.
The park was redesigned in the 17th century, probably by André Le Nôtre.
