Monte Verità Park

Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
Fondazione Monte Verità is a cultural centre in Bauhaus style, with an Oriental and European art collection, and surrounded by a famous park, including several interesting features such as a very elegant Japanese Tea garden and a tea hut.

The property dates back to 1900 when a group of idealists and vegetarians moved to the hillside of Ascona founding a utopian community close to nature. It was bought in 1926 by the german aristocrat Baron Eduard Von der Heydt, a banker and art collector and turned it into a luxury hotel where he exhibited his Oriental and European art collection, which is still there today. Since 1989 Canton Ticino is the owner.
