The Museum of Natural History (Museo di Storia Naturale di Firenze) - Section of Geology and Paleontology, and also part of the University of Florence, features a stunning collection of fossils and rocks, with about 300,000 specimens of animal and vegetable fossils, fossil imprints and rock specimens from the collections of noted geologists and palaeontologists.
The collection includes shells from Tuscan hills described by Leonardo da Vinci, the fossils that belonged to Nicolas Steno, the grand-ducal collections and much more
