Castle Schloss + Park Nymphenburg was a summer residence for the Bavarian ruling family, the Wittelsbachs. The complex was finished in 1679 and got its present dimensions in the beginning of the 18th century.

It is famous for its baroque interior, baroque garden and landscape garden.

The Marstallmuseum is presenting over forty representative coaches, sleighs and riding accoutrements that belonged to the Wittelsbachs, the museum documents three hundred years of princely coach building and travel and riding culture. With its rich collection, the Marstallmuseum is one of the most important of its kind in the world.

The Museum of Nymphenburg Porcelain is displaying a unique private collection of Nymphenburg porcelain from the 18th to the 20th centuries on the upper floor of the Marstallmuseum. In 1747, Max III Joseph founded the electoral porcelain factory.

The baroque garden was designed by Zuccali and Girard with a great central canal, on which a gondola service used to operate. The garden was painted by Canaletto (1761). The landscape garden was designed Ludwig von Skell (around 1800).
