Polesden Lacey & Garden

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Polesden Lacey goes back to 1336, but was completely extended and remodelled in 1906 by the Margaret Greville, the famous Edwardian hostess and friend of George VI and Queen Elisabeth. The Royal couple spent a part of their honeymoon here.

Margaret Greville had a magnificent collection of Old Master paintings, furniture, porcelain and silver, which can still be admired here today.

The extensive grounds, covering 567 ha (1,400 acres) include woodland, lawns, a walled rose garden, a beautiful herbaceous border and winter garden.

After Margaret's death, the estate was bequeased to the National Trust.
