Rokeby Park

Castles & Country Houses, Private Collections
Rokeby Park, a fine example of the Italianate Palladian style, was completed in 1735 by Sir Thomas Robinson. He sold it to J.S. Morritt in 1769, an ancestor of the current owner, Sir Andrew Morritt.

The House, open to the public on selected days, contains beautiful family collections such as furniture, paintings and a collection of fine needlework pictures by Anne Morritt (1726–1797), the spinster sister of J.S. Morritt.

Rokeby has never had a formal or man-made garden. The visitor can enjoy the natural context of unrivalled beauty provided by the courses of the Greta and the Tees, whereas the last mile of the Greta runs through the Park.
