Seaton Delaval Hall
Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Seaton Delaval Hall was built in 1718, by the famous architect Sir John Vanbrugh, for Admiral George Delaval. The garden dates from 1947, made by James Russell. Since 2009 Seaton Delaval Hall is in the hands by the National Trust.
The Delavals were famous for their extreme and colourful lifestyle and the Hall has moved from fortune to misfortune. In 1822 the central block was destroyed by fire, and has remained an empty shell ever since.
