The Secession Building (Wiener Secessionsgebäude)is an exhibition hall built in 1897 by Joseph Maria Olbrich as an architectural landmark of the the Vienna Secession, the spirit of innovation and optimism that prevailed around 1900.
Above the entrance is written “Der Zeit ihre Kunst. Der Kunst ihre Freiheit“ ("To every age its art, to every art its freedom"), whereas the famous “Beethoven Frieze“ was made by Klimt.
