Shuttleworth Houise, situated in 172 ha (425 acres) of magnificent parkland, is an important tourist attraction, where the visitors can admire the famous collection of vintage aircraft, vehicles, etc, visit the House with its period rooms, and grounds, including the Swiss Garden. 

The house was built in 1875 by the architect Henry Clutton for Joseph Shuttleworth, who also initiated the creation of the Swiss Garden in late Regency style.

The interior contains furnishings, created by Gillows of Lancaster and has some interesting 19th century paintings.

The estate is today in the hands of the The Shuttleworth Trust, which was created in 1940 by Dorothy Shuttleworth in loving memory of her only son Richard, after his tragic death in a flying accident aged 31.

Shuttleworth is also a venue for TV, Film & Photo shooting, corporate and private events, such as reception, weddings...
