Sledmere House is an 18th century house, surrounded by a park designed (1777) by the celebrated Lancelot 'Capability' Brown. Since its construction, the house is in the hands of the Sykes family, and is today the home of Sir Tatton Sykes, 8th Baronet.
The house contains a beautiful collection of furniture, paintings, portraits, porcelain, silver..., which has almost been lost in 1911 when the house was greatly damaged by a fire. Fortunately, most of the contents could be saved.
The Sledmere stables has been used for thoroughbred horses, as part of its famous racing tradition. The Sledmere Fram Park is housing a wide range of farm animals.
In addition there is the unique 'Wagoner' Museum, which is one of its kind anywhere.
Sledmere House is also a venue for corporate and private events, such as meetings, conferences, weddings...
