Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Trauttmansdorff Castle, dating back to the Middle Ages, was brought back to life mid 19th century by Count Joseph von Trauttmansdorff, and later by Baron von Deuster, who hosted twice the historic Empress Sissi.
The Empress stayed there ' in the strictest incognito' ...with a retenue of 102 people...
After the two world wars, it was restored again and the siding, chapel, crypt, Rococo Hall, and Empress Elisabeth’s second floor living quarters have all been restored to their former splendour.
The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle encompasses more than twelve hectares and has an altitude differential of 100 meters.
