Trompenburg Gardens & Arboretum, dating back to the 19th century and open to the public since 1958, is housing a large collection of woody as well as herbaceous plants.
The collection includes conifers, Quercus, Fagus, Rhododendron, Ligustrum, Rodgersia and Hosta. The Trompenburg Gardens & Arboretum (7 ha) is 4 m below sea level and has consequently a system of canals in order to drain the land.
