York Gate Garden is the work of two generations of the Spencer family between 1951 an 1994; Frederic Spencer, his son Robin and later, after Robin's premature death at the age of 47, his mother Sybil.
When Sybil Spencer passed away in 1994, the garden passed on to the charity Perennial - Gardeners' Royal Benevolent Society.
The garden is open to visitors five afternoons per week throughout Spring and Summer.
