The Seville Museum of Fine Arts, founded in 1839, presents mainly Spanish visual arts from the medieval period to the early 20th century. The museum is housed in the former convent of the Order of the Merced Calzada de la Asunción, dating back to the 13th century but remodelled during the 17th century.
Noteworthy are the works of the Golden Age of Sevillian painting (17th century) with names like Murillo, Zurbaran...
