Bishop's House Garden
Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Bishop's House Garden is part of the Old Bishops Palace, which was completed in 1860. In 1959 the new palace was built, whereas the Old Palace came to be used by Norwich school, and consequently the garden was drastically reduced size and number of gardeners.
The size was reduced from 2.4 ha (7 acres) to 1.6 ha (4 acres), and the number of gardeners, which was in the 1940s up to 15, were reduced to 1 full-time and 1 part-time gardener.
The garden contains herbaceous borders, a shade border, meconopsis, tree ferns and a small woodland walk.
