Broughton House & Garden
Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
Broughton House is an 18th century town house, and today a museum dedicated to the life and work of the Scottish artist Edward Atkinson Hornel, who lived here from 1901 until 1933. He and his sister Elizabeth designed the garden.
The garden design was inspired by what he had seen during his travels in Japan.
The house, which was donated to the citizens on his death, contains an impressive art collection.
