Chenies Manor House is a fine Tudor mansion, with a long history linked to the Russels, Dukes of Bedford. Since 1956 it is in the hands of the Macleod Matthews family. The house is surrounded by an idyllic garden, with original 13th Century features including a Medieval well, a dungeon and a reputed priest hole.

Chenies Manor House has come, by inheritance, into the Russel family in 1526. It has been the seat of the Dukes of Bedford until around 1627, when the 4th Duke decided to move to Woburn. The manor stayed however with the Russells until the death of the 12th Duke in 1953.

Henry VIII and Elisabeth I were entertained here.

Today the gardens are open to the public. There is an elegant tearoom offering also a full English Afternoon Tea menu.

In addition, Chenies Manor House is a venue for TV, Film, Photo shooting, corporate and private events, such as dinner parties, weddings...
