Hatfield House,  a perfect example of Jacobean architecture, was constructed for Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salesbury, and has been the seat of the Cecil family ever since. Today it is inhabited by Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, 7th Marquess of Salesbury, and is open to the public.

The house contains the magnificent family collections, including many highlights, such as The Rainbow Portrait of Queen Elisabeth I, The Long Gallery...

The extensive gardens, covering 17 ha (42 acres), were laid out by John Tradescant the Elder at the beginning of the 17th century, and include the traditional fountains, water parterres, terraces, scented plants, herb gardens, a foot maze, orchards...

Hatfield House is also a venue for TV, Film & Photos hooting, corporate and private events, such as meetings, receptions, weddings...
