Croft Castle's first building on the site dates back to the 11th century and the castle since then is closely linked with the Croft family and Croft baronets. The family still lives there, but sold the castle, together with 607 ha (1,500 acres) gardens, woodland, farm and parkland to the National Trust in 1957.
It has a beautiful and interesting interior, reflecting centuries of family live at the castle and showing the family history.
The grounds include a walled garden, a vineyard, a glasshouse dating from 1908, a Georgian stable block, an avenue of Spanish Chestnuts...
